Cooler

I was driving my kids to dance yesterday when I encountered a cooler in the middle of a busy street.

My first thought:  Ooh sweet, free cooler.

In the past it would have ended there.  I probably wouldn’t have even turned around to fetch the free cooler, but I would have definitely thought “ooh sweet, free cooler.”

Now I’m married to Court, who through the wonders of OCD and crime-centric TV shows has expanded my thought process to include the following:

Ew.  I wonder what has been kept in that cooler.  Who knows where it’s been.  What if someone left their bologna sandwich with mayo to get all rotten in that cooler.  Or maybe they put raw chicken in it.  I wonder if they’ve ever washed it.  I wonder if I have enough bleach at home to thoroughly disinfect what someone else has likely done to that cooler.  I wonder if that cooler has ever been used in the committing of a crime.  I wonder if that cooler ever stored body parts.   Oh man, someone needs to call the police.

omg, the first thing i thought when i read the beginning of this post was: oh no, she found body parts in it! ... i knew i always liked court. i'm glad he's given you some ocd / paranoia thoughts to consider in an otherwise normal life :)

Yep, me too. Too much CSI and Criminal Minds. I'm sure it had body parts in it at one time.

My husband thinks I'm disturbed, but I think I'm just educated :)

Please tell me you still picked up the free cooler though.

Phew- I'm glad I am not the only one who thinks things like that. I do it when I see a trash bag on the side of the road. "What if there is a dead person in there?" Totally normal.

Was it a personal size cooler? Red with a white lid? At approximately 53rd South and I-15?? Alek's cooler fell off the back of his Harley the other day and he's been quite upset about it. I've watched him pack up that cooler every day for the last year. Sniff!!
