Happy birthday Charlotte!
Do you think she’ll notice that this post is over a month late? I actually got a post all typed up a few weeks ago, and then lost it somehow. So here I go here I go here I go again…
Little miss Charlotte is four. Probably the cutest thing in America happened the morning before her birthday. I was lying in bed and I could here the girls on the monitor. They were just waking up and Charlotte said to Victoria, “Hey Tori, tomorrow is my birthday!” So then cute little Tori starts singing really slowly “Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you…” and Charlotte was trying to get her to stop, “No! No! TOMORROW is my birthday!” I love eavesdropping on those crazy little conversations.
The morning of her actual birthday she slept in a bit and I got too excited and had to wake her up. She sat up on her bed and looked down at her body and then said “I’m four now, but my pajamas still fit!” She was so surprised that all of her clothes still fit.
We had a fun party with my family and Court’s parents. Charlotte is really fun to give gifts to because she is super appreciative and really animated when she opens presents. She got a new nightgown that she now wears 24/7, and lots of other cool stuff popular with the four-year-old crowd.
Holy flashback to 1982. My mom has had this bear cake pan since probably before then. It still had the price tag on it, $5.50 at ZCMI. It was a really fun birthday cake to make. My mom helped me frost it so she gets about 85% of the credit. Victoria tried to sabotage things by getting up on a stool and munching at the unfrosted teddy bear’s face. But you would never know it. That’s how genius my mom and I are with a piping bag and a star tip. (Mostly my mom, but I’m a quick learner.)
Charlotte is just about the funniest kid I could have ever asked for. She is friendly and silly and sweet and just so easy to be around. She loves to talk, color, draw, sing, dance, change her clothes, and watch TV. She wants to be a soccer player ballerina dentist chef when she grows up. She is teaching herself how to read and can’t wait to go to preschool in the fall. She is a super sweet big sister to Victoria (most of the time). She is also really mastering the selective hearing thing, and therefore helping me learn just how loud my own voice can be (sorry neighbors). My favorite thing about Charlotte right now is listening to her sing in the car to Glee. She memorizes the words so amazingly fast, and there is really nothing cuter than my children singing “Don’t Stand So Close To Me.”
We love you so much Charlotte and we’re happy that you’re four!

Happy Birthday cute Charlotte!!
I can just imagine the 'singing in the bedroom' episode. You're so smart to write it down...people told me to do that and I told them I would, but mostly just so they'd leave me alone. It was all I could do to shower every day, breast feed and keep the toddlers from drinking gas. Writing down hysterical comments was last on my list. Wish it had been first...well, second...after the gas.
Happy late birthday Charlotte!! She is the cutest thing Kate, you are a lucky mama!!
The pajamas still fitting was a hoot! The things they come up with! So cute! Good job for making a cute cake!
