Blogging trendiness.

Do I have a blog because it's the new Mormon Mommy thing to do?  Or do I have a blog because I need a receptacle for my many opinions.  Court can only take so much of my talking.

I've just read a couple of things lately about the Mormon Mommy trend of blogging, and I have to think to myself:  Did I get here before that trend started?  Or am I just another trend follower?  I'm not sure.   And then there's the lovely Seriously, So Blessed blog that has become so popular, and as it becomes more and more popular it becomes less and less funny.  It was better when the spelling and grammar were more subtle.  Now it's just too far gone.  But is it making fun of me?  I mean, not me specifically, but me generally?  Yes, I guess it is.  Maybe it's doing me a service in reminding me to reign in my usage of exclamation points!!!  I believe you shouldn't write more enthusiastically than you would actually talk in real life.

Fact is, I don't need justification for blogging.  I blog because I like to write.  I blog because my kids are funny.  I blog because I'm having a bad day.  I blog because this is the only record I'm making for posterity.  I blog because I'm bored.  I blog because the world needs to know what I think about stuff.  I blog because my husband needs something good to read while he's at work!  (Hey dude.)

Kate-
I really like your post because I have sometimes felt the same way. Have I jumped on the band wagon with all the other Mormon moms? Yes. But I enjoy blogging because it keeps me in touch with friends I don't stay in touch with otherwise. And I don't think blogging needs to be justified either.

The Seriously So Blessed blog was funny at first, but sometimes I feel like it's making fun of a lot of us moms and LDS members in general, and the enthusiasim gets old after a while.

I'm glad you blog, because you seem like a fun person with adorable little girls and your posts are fun to read. (Thanks again for letting this stranger read your blog! By the way, where do you do hair?)

You blog so we can stay in touch on a daily basis. Because let's face it, where would we be after my 3 year absence without our blogging connection.

Yes, it is always about me.

Hey Baby, thanks for the shout-out. Thanks for blogging, because I am reading it at work. But really you don't need any justification. You enjoy it and you're good at it, and yes, our children are adorable. So keep it up!

I find your blog quit entertaining. Its fun to see your darling girls and get some humor along the way. Keep it up! (I didn't know it was a Mormon mommy trend- we are out of the loop out here!)

Mutha *$#%%*! I just wrote this whole comment about how you are my "bloggiest stand up comedienne friend, and please don't stop, because I often show pics of your funny kids to my peeps!". And then Blogger ate it.

Stupid Blogger.

Anyhoo - I don't think Mormons own the corner market on Blogging. In fact, most bloggers I read aren't Mormon. Blogs are great distractions during the long work hours, great for catching up with friends, and also a perfect way to display your elegant word vomit (if you are me). So don't even think about quitting.

And Camille - ahem. It's all about ME, not you. Sheesh. When will you ever learn? :)

Ooooookaaaaayyy, Camille and Lynette. Who are you kidding? Kate and I barely knew each other before she started this blog, so I can safely say that it has engendered between us a friendship that was simply not there before. That's right -- this makes her blog all about, well, me.

Who cares about some lame blogger with a dumb blog that makes jokes that aren't even funny any more??Not Kate Page!

All that matters is that you have fun stuff to say, and cute kids, and I like to hear about what you do with your day...cause seriously...I kind of need you (and my other ten blog readers) to care about what I do with mine. Otherwise, since my womb is pleasantly barren and I have no cute progeny to display, who the hell is gonna care about MY blog??

I'm with Brits, I think you started the trend Kate. LOL LOL LOL.

oh, and I have to AMEN Whitney's comment as well - I had no idea it was such a "trend".

Geez, Louise. Wearing pants was a trend some female started decades ago. Do you not want to wear pants just because all the other mommies are wearing them, too? For that matter, we all used to be hunters and gatherers. But I'm for d@mned sure glad I've settled into a house.

Hmmm... well I'm not a mormon mommy! LOL I also have friends that blog that aren't mormon. So is it a mommy mormon thing to do?
