Expiration dates.

Is it possible that I am really this dense? Don't answer that.

A little while ago I was reading my cousin Rachel's blog. It was a post about her birthday and how she went to get her driver's license renewed. At the very back corner of my head I thought, "Rachel is my age, did mine expire?" Apparently that thought was fleeting because off it flew, never to be thought again. Flash forward to the bank drive through last week. I'm trying to cash some checks and the dude says to me, "Ma'am do you know your ID is expired?" And my response "Are you kidding me?" (I say this a lot, it's basically my response to most everything.) Apparently my ID expired on my birthday, way the heck back in FEBRUARY people. Where was I in February? Let's see, moving, pregnant, miserable, pregnant, in pain, pregnant... Apparently I neglected to get my driver's license renewed. I've been driving around like a common criminal. No worries, I got it taken care of last week and really, who doesn't love having a new driver's license picture taken when you just 3 months ago gave birth and are not feeling your thinnest or most attractive. I guess having that picture taken back in February when I was supposed to might have been a teensy bit worse what with that painful pregnancy I keep going on and on about.

A trip to the DMV always raises my self-esteem just a bit. There sure are some different people out there.

Haha I spent the day at the DMV yesterday, too!

The same thing happened to Rusty, he drove around with one for months. But we were living in Hawaii and there was only one place to go and because it was so expired he had to take the drive test. But that was fully booked up for 6 months, so he ended up getting a permit. And yes, everytime I was in the front seat with him driving I made fun of him.

I love the DMV cartoon...hilarious! Glad I could remind you (for a second) to get your license renewed! (: I'll remind you again in 5 years.

Don't worry Kate - I did the same thing, except found out it was expired when trying to get through security at the airport! What a pain!!

BTW, I couldn't agree more about the DMV, it is quite the place to people watch :)

I don't know if it's the new thing, or if we're just lucky here in Arizona, but mine doesn't expire until my birthday in the year 2042. I don't want to even think how old I'll be then. No matter how old I am I'm sure I'll still forget to renew it.
Do we get to see the new, improved picture?
