Blog Surfing

Some people I know are professional Blog Surfers. Would that imply that they get paid to Blog Surf? Hmmmm. Well, they don't. But they are good at it. Ashley is always calling me and saying "guess whose blog I found?" And I think "girl, you have too much time on your hands." I'm not very successful at finding anyone I know, until today when I found someone really random. The child of one of my Young Women leaders. Weird. They moved when I was probably 17 to I don't even know where. I'm getting off track here though.

So tonight I have been cruising from blog to blog to see if I can find something juicy and I've read a few posts that have got me thinking. One of them was about how privatizing blogs has kind of ruined the blog experience. For example, you find a blog you love to read and then one day it's private. You don't actually know the author, you may not want to necessarily reveal that you are a regular visitor to their blog and beg for an invitation, so you just have to give it up cold turkey. It's frustrating! Then I started thinking, I wonder if there is anyone who reads my blog on a regular basis who I don't actually know. I kind of don't think so, but if so it doesn't really bother me. I don't feel the need to make my blog private. (If I have to eat these words later please go easy on the "I told you so's".) I've googled and googled and googled and never has anything lead me to my own blog. Oh, and if you have a private blog and you are my friend, don't automatically take any of this personally. You know how that bugs me. No need to get all sensitacho. I think I kind of do my own kind of privatizing with my blog. I don't want certain people I know to know I have this. I feel like I can be more free with what I write because I'm not thinking, "is this something I want so and so to know about?" Like what if I had to stop talking about Court's parents? ACK. They give me a lot of really great material. And I didn't even tell the story of how Court's mom told us she doesn't like Victoria's name.

Okay, it's late and this is getting rambly and out of hand. I've lost all sense of paragraph structure. If you are a stranger and you are reading this, I dare you to comment. I triple dog dare you.

**Oh, man, here it is the next morning and I just read through this post and wow, it doesn't make that much sense. Greetings from the sleep-deprived, middle-of-the-night blogging mother of a 6 week old.**

Sometimes you have to make your blog private because people who hate you can find it on others' lists. It truly annoys me to no end. I really didn't want to make it private until a few months ago, when I realized I may have unwelcome lurkers. I am sure you know what I'm talking about. But anyway, good for you for sticking to your guns. I wish I had the courage to do the same. Maybe someday soon.

Thank you for letting everyone know I have WAY too much time on my hands. I have a lame life, what can I say. And I just know where to go I guess... It will be interesting to see if anyone takes your dare.

Stop calling me sensitacho!

(thanks for the disclaimer) Love you sister Kate.

Glad we are able to communicate with one another through blog/facebook (gasp) comments. Otherwise we would never connect.

Um, yeah. I told my dad he was not allowed to find my blog just in case I wanted to bad mouth him on it...and he took that as a personal dare and did it. Grr.

Completely concur with you on this point - I love checking out what other people are saying.

Oh! And I forgot to say something snarky about Glad not liking Tori's name. When did this happen? Have I already heard this? And then I had a stroke and forgot?

Sheesh.

You have been UNINVITED to read by private blog.

Kate said...

Shannon! Didn't you read? You are not allowed to get sensitacho! Now invite me back.

Chirp, chirp, chirp. Remember that time I was chopped liver and Kate didn't answer my question?

Oh. Just kidding. That would be "getting sensitacho"!

Yes - I get what you're saying. Usually if I find an old friend's blog, I leave a comment so as not to be a "lurker." Sometimes, though, I'd rather not leave a comment like on that girl's page I found who was all that with cherries on top on the cheerleading team with her nose in the air. I didn't feel like leaving her a comment. She didn't deserve it.

Okay so I found your blog using a link from somebody else. I forgot you were expecting and Victoria (I like that name) is so pretty... congrats. So I'll start checking back more often.

Ha ha, okay, stranger taking your dare and following through with it. I have seen you on lds bbc though so kinda not a stranger, well, no I really am a stranger. Anyway, I just found you by linking through other lds ladies' blogs so there. I'm tired right now too so I guess it's only fitting that you're getting a tired confusing comment on your late night tired post.
