Court's Filing System, not to be confused with the Dewey Decimal System
So yesterday we had some errands to run. So we put our little family in the car, and I told Court I needed to go to 21st South and just east of the freeway. Perhaps it was my fault that I assumed he knew the most logical way to get there. Perhaps I should just know that he needs explicit instructions, even though he grew up in this valley just like I did, and one might argue that he, being 5.5 years older than I, should know it better than I do. Whatever. So he says, "how should we get there?" And I say, let's get on I-15. I feel like that should be enough explanation, right? So he heads north on Highland drive, and we're about 1 block from where he should get over to the right, get on the ramp to I-215, and proceed west until he reaches the ramp to northbound I-15. (Is this boring? I'm sorry, but I have to be explicit.) So, we're at this crucial point of you better change lanes now pal if you want to get on the freeway, and Court says "how do I get to I-15?" Are you kidding me!? I believe this is the point where I became incredulous. I didn't even want to give him the right answer! Figure it out honey bunch! But, time was ticking so I quickly explained it to him and he got us going in the right direction. And then we had to laugh our heads off about it for a while, because it's nearly the very same route he takes to work EVERY DAY. Seriously.
This is where he told me about his filing system, and that he has all these routes filed away in his brain in certain folders. So what I should have said is "get out the folder marked 'how to get to work' and follow it up until this point, where I need to you switch to the folder marked 'how to get to whatever car dealership is closest to 21st south'." I say this almost every day, and it has never been truer: I don't know how Court gets anywhere. Somebody buy him a navigation device. STAT.
Oh how I love you Courtland! You're the goofiest.

That's hysterical!
Remember when we used to have H/P family fun day and we ALWAYS ended up at a car dealership (instead of the movie, or bowling, or whatever)?
Crazy car boys.
